Are you ready to get started?  See below. Digestion matters when it comes to brain health.

CHEW

Prevent bloating and gas - chew your food approximately 20-30x/min. Not only can it help prevent bloating and gas, it can help your brain… your gut and brain are inextricably linked.

SIP, DON'T DRINK, DURING MEALS

Drinking large amount of liquids during meals can impede the digestion process. Sipping works best. And if you are looking to manage your food intake, drink a large glass of water 30 min prior to your meal.

DRINK MORE WATER

Hydration throughout the day is key. It can affect your cognition as well as every chemical reaction that takes place in your body and brain. Leave a jug of water visible throughout the day to ensure you drink enough.

SIT DOWN TO EAT

For effective digestion one needs to be relaxed, engaging the “rest and digest” state. If you are in “fight or flight” mode, your digestive system won’t function properly, leading to decreased absorption of nutrients from food and the possibility of bloating and gas.

BE PRESENT

Too often we are wolfing down our food to the point we sometimes don’t even realize what we have eaten. This can lead to overeating and digestive issues. Take time to sit, savour and appreciate every bite :)
